ABC and CBS to Preempt Daytime Lineups for Coverage of Second Inauguration of President-Elect Donald J. Trump

Monday, January 20th, the entire daytime lineups on ABC and CBS will have a full preemption as the networks broadcast the second inauguration of President-elect Donald J. Trump.
ABC will not air its regularly scheduled programming including: The View, GMA3: What You Need to Know and General Hospital. Complete coverage of Inauguration Day will start on the alphabet network with a special edition of Good Morning America at 7:00 a.m. ET, followed by a day-long special report beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET. Coverage can also be seen streaming on ABC News Live throughout the day.
David Muir is set to anchor inauguration day in America for ABC. All-day coverage will include: the swearing-in ceremony and inaugural address, the signing ceremony in the Oval Office, the inauguration parade, musical performances, and other key moments in the slate of events.

Over at CBS, the entire daytime line-up will take the day off and that includes: The Price is Right, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Let’s Make a Deal which all will be preempted.
The network kicks-off its inauguration day coverage 7:00 a.m. ET with a special edition of CBS Mornings with Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson from Washington, D.C. CBS will continue its special all-day coverage of the presidential inauguration with anchor Norah O’Donnell across all of its platforms. CBS News coverage of the day’s events are expected to continue until at least 5:00 p.m. ET and will be simulcast on CBS News 24/7, the network’s streaming news channel.

The inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States will happen at the United States Capitol rotunda in Washington, D.C. It represents the start of his second and final non-consecutive term. Vice-President-elect JD Vance will also take the oath of office, joining Trump on stage to officially begin their new administration.

Musical artists scheduled to perform throughout inaugural events in the day and into the night, (not including a surprise musical guest set to appear at the Liberty Ball), ar previously announced are” Carrie Underwood, The Village People, Jason Aldean, Snoop Dog, Nelly, and Rascal Flatts to name but a few.

While ABC and CBS soaps will not be seen, Days of our Lives will not be affected and continue with an all-new episode streaming on Peacock. According to teasers for the 1/20 episode look for: Leo to accuse Kerry in front of Javi about being Lady Whistleblower; Alex and Joy define their relationship, Paulina to advise Chanel, Bonnie to lends a sympathetic ear to Johnny, and Kate setting the ground rules for Hattie’s return.
