Monday’s December 16th episode of General Hospital brought with it two emotional moments for vastly different reasons. In the pick-up from Friday’s cliffhanger, Jason (Steve Burton) arrives at the hospital after Anna (Finola Hughes) called him to be there for Joss (Eden McCoy), as she is overcome with grief on the death of her boyfriend, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer). Anna tells Jason she tried Carly (Laura Wright), but she’s not picking up. That’s because Carly is trying to stop Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) from taking Michael’s kids.

Inside Dex’s hospital room, Joss lays her head on his chest and breaks down in tears. She thanks Dex for saving her life, trusting her with his heart, and changing how she sees the world. In a tearjerker moment, Joss thanks Dex for loving her, and she hopes she said it often enough back to him. After she gives Dex a kiss on the lips, she turns and sees Jason at the doorway and runs into his arms.

Jason brings Joss to the footbridge. She is in complete shock that this is happening to her all over again; remembering the death of Oscar and now she has to grieve all over again about Dex. Joss tells Jason that at least with Oscar, she got to say goodbye. None of this is adding up for Joss. She has to find out what went wrong, because Dex survived his surgery and his stabbing and was on the mend. Joss tells Jason she owes it to Dex to find the answers as to what happened that caused his sudden death. The scenes were played with heart-aching pain and shock by Daytime Emmy winner, Eden McCoy.

In a joyful and heart-tugging moment, after all the drama with Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Willow’s affair coming to light at the Quartermaines (and all the bickering among the family), Lulu (Alexa Havins) arrives with Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) in tow. She declares,“Step-Monster, you haven’t changed a bit.” All of a sudden Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) demeanor goes from sour to tears of joys and she cries, “Finally!” Next, she and Lulu embrace. Now alone with Lulu, Tracy can’t believe Lulu’s here and healthy, and relates how she’s been praying for this, which they both know she doesn’t do often.

The conversation turns to the loss of Luke, and Tracy says she misses him every day and the two discuss how much like Luke that Lulu is. However, Tracy tells Lulu that she missed a lot in four years, and it’s important for her to focus on the present. When the talk turns to trying to locate Charlotte, Tracy implores Lulu not to go rogue like her father would, and that she will help and use all her resources to help locate her daughter.

The scenes between Lulu and Tracy were extremely touching. Alexa Havins is fitting nicely into the role of Lulu, and her chemistry with the incomparable Jane Elliot just clicked!
